Job Description Maintains, inspects, calibrates and repairs various meters, instruments and process logic controllers according to manufacturer’s recommendations and specifications. Is fully qualified to perform the most complex functions and may lead the work of others.

Inspects and performs instrumentation and control circuitry troubleshooting to

determine repairs needed regardless of complexity. Estimates time and material

costs for assigned projects. Isolates equipment utilizing proper safety procedures.

Dismantles equipment to gain access to and repairs defective parts using hand tools,

power tools and precision measuring and testing devices. Re-assembles and tests

equipment ensuring safe and efficient operating condition is restored.

Inspects flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures and related controls on

instrument panels, computer terminals and programmable logic control units and

diagnoses any operational problems. Takes corrective action per procedure in

assigned area. Verifies and reports suspected malfunctions and variances to

supervisor.

Performs instrument calibration for portable meters including, but not limited to

dissolved oxygen, pH, H2S, percent oxygen, lower explosive limit.

Performs routine and preventative maintenance such as changing and cleaning

probes, indicator lights, low voltage fuses, floats and sensors.

Makes adjustments on all instrumentation, gauges, control systems equipment and

related devices within manufacturer specifications. Completes accurate and timely

documentation of instrumentation and meter repairs and calibrations as required.

Promptly reports any operational problems with instrumentation or equipment to Lead

or Supervisor.

Performs routine maintenance on Operations consoles and SCADA unit,

performs maintenance within the SCADA unit and assist with SCADA

engineer while he is onsite.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES (INTERMITTENT, ON AN OCCASIONAL BASIS, ETC.)

May assist with maintaining parts, spares and maintenance inventory.

May assist in other areas of plant as directed.

May perform manual labor including cleaning equipment, facilities and grounds as

required and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental

policies. Operates vehicles for plant operational purposes.

Typically assists with orienting or training new or less experienced Maintenance

personnel.

Qualifications High school or GED with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational,

manufacturer’s manuals, wiring guides, diagrams and blueprints and safety and quality instructions) and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Vocational training with mechanical and electrical aptitude required. Must demonstrate ability to read, interpret and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, computer consoles and other equipment.

At least three years’ experience in a similar environment with the knowledge of occupational hazards and safety requirements involved in electrical maintenance and repair of a water treatment plant.

Employee must have the ability to efficiently maintain, install, repair and calibrate all instruments, controls, gauges and metering devices which may include electronic circuitry, PLC’s (Programmable Logic Control units), and SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) systems experience is a plus.

Must demonstrate proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including (gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.)

Must consistently demonstrate the ability to perform all assigned tasks in an organized, accurate and timely manner.

Must have the ability to diagnose problems regardless of complexity, troubleshoot and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.

Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

Must have basic computer skills including, but not limited to basic operations and manipulation of data on spreadsheets, etc.

Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
