Firefighter Jobs description
A firefighter is responsible for protecting life and property from fires. A firefighter is called upon emergency to put out fires, treat injuries, or undertake rescue operations. Firefighters are divided into different task categories – tillers guide the part of the fire truck that carries long ladders, hose operators connect the hoses to fire hydrants, and pump operators make sure the water gets through the hoses to the blaze. A firefighter uses axes to break down walls or windows so they can evacuate people trapped by flames and other obstacles. Firefighters are also responsible for maintaining equipment so it is in good working order. Firefighters may work for city or community governments, private companies, or on voluntary basis.A firefighter should have a high school diploma and be at least eighteen years old to take the fire exam. A two- or four-year program in fire science at community colleges or universities is an advantage for such positions.
