The functions of a blue collar worker consist of carrying out minor repairs to the office buildings and repair and inspect office buildings and premises and report any areas requiring maintenance or repair, get quotations from suppliers and external contractors for goods and services relating to the maintenance of the offices and which cannot be supplied internally, arrange regular fire drills and ensure that all fire-fighting equipment is correctly maintained and maintain a record of reports and complaints from staff relating to the building and its fixtures and fittings.

A blue collar worker should work in compliance with the provisions, the act and regulations of the company, use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the company provides, report to the employer or supervisor in the absence or defect in any equipment or protective device and report to the employer or supervisor of any hazard or contravention of the company’s written acts. The job of a blue collar worker requires basic level of education with practical skills and experience.
