In a filing with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the company said it began cutting 228 hourly and salaried workers and should be complete by December 19. Just two weeks ago ABX Air had announced it was cutting 283 jobs. Those cuts aren't set to end until this coming Friday.

With DHL as the company's primary customer, ABX Air is facing a difficult time. DHL said last month it is closing its domestic hubs and is ending US point-to-point shipping.

In May, DHL announced a pending deal with UPS to shift air cargo operations to a Louisville, Kentucky hub. ABX Air has logged 900 job cuts with the state since this announcement.

Company spokeswoman Beth Huber wouldn't speculate on the effects of the job cuts, saying simply “We don't have a clear picture right now, so we're taking things week by week.”
