The Cuyahoga County, Ohio Sheriff's office has laid off 18 deputies and three security monitors, Sheriff Gerald McFaul said in a news release.
McFaul declined to discuss the layoffs but said through an assistant that he would make an announcement Monday.
The layoffs were part of an effort to offset a $4 million dollar budget deficit. In a few months, employees will be given the option of participating in an early retirement program.
