Job Summary:

The Welder is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable PSD to customers. The Welder identifies opportunities to improve service delivery. This person plans and executes non-TLM maintenance activities for a designated location, ensures equipment is delivered on-time and according to operational demands, and maintains shop and field equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

GTAW weld processes using manual, semi-automatic, and/or automatic equipment.

Weld preparation including cutting, blending, chamfering, and cleaning parts.

Support/prepare parts for post-weld inspection processes such as dye penetrant, X-ray and chemical treatments.

Design support and fabrication of tooling for welding and assembly.

Communicate with engineers on design concepts, offering suggestions for improvements to the design.

Perform welding and installation on military, nuclear and oilfield measurement equipment.

Review, edit and follow Work Instructions for welding and assembly work.

Safely work within an industrial environment.

Setup new production work areas, including layouts, tooling and equipment setup, etc.

Assist with transition from development to production, including first articles.

Perform precision seam welding work for long periods of time seated at machine.

Setup and operate precision calibrated tools including but limited to, weld controllers, gauges, etc.

Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.

Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 6S and Lean initiatives.

Interface with production leads, supervisors, manager and QA inspection to ensure timely customer delivery.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED

1-3 years as a qualified ASME IX welder or previous experience

Must be able to pass GTAW, FCAW test to ASME Section IX and ASME D 1.1 This includes stainless schedule 10, a 2 inch carbon steel monster coupon, as well as 3g and 4g carbon steel plate test.

Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities

Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures

Basic mathematics skills such as calculating spring rates

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Perform repetitive work including lifting of heavy items up to 44 lbs.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to document and maintain accurate records

Hand dexterity required to assemble small mechanical components

Ability to use precision hand tools, standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment, also develop fixtures/tooling.

Familiarity with use of personal computers.

Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) and pressurized system safety

Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field

Experienced in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment

Experience with resistance seam welding, precision TIG welding, spot welding machines

Experience reading WPS (weld procedure specification) and PQR (performance qualification record)

Experience with helium leak verification of welds.
