Job Description:

Shell Catalyst & Technology Plant, Michigan City, IN produces materials used in refineries around the world for the production of fuels. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to help us keep our plant well maintained in order to meet market demands.

*Starting rate of pay is *$32.83 per hour *

Job Description:

Comply with all HSE regulations, policies, standards, practices and actively participate in improving plant safety culture.

Minimum of five (5) years current experience as a Mechanic or Millwright in an industrial environment OR have completed (documented) training and/or certification in plant maintenance/millwright in an industrial environment or military environment

A safe work attitude and practical knowledge of industrial safety standards

Ability to process paperwork accurately and efficiently

Competent with general computer operations

Communicate effectively verbally and written (including email)

Work in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Identify and implement equipment improvements to increase plant reliability.

Troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, test, remove, and clean plant mechanical equipment/assets.

Operate tools and machinery to affect assigned work. This may include welding, rotating equipment, solids & liquids transfer systems, chemical hazards, work in an industrial facility.

Perform preventive maintenance work as assigned. This will include using a laser alignment tool, sheave alignment tools, belt tension tools etc.

Communicate to operations employees, supervisors, and others regarding the identification of problems and completion of jobs in their area both verbally and in writing.

Read and comprehend drawings including, but not limited to plant layout, P&ID, equipment drawings.

Use computer in daily routine, including data entry into computerized management maintenance system.

Understand piping systems and their uses, including knowledge of and adherence to plant piping standards.

Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visa

Must be at least 18 years old

Must be able to speak, read and write English

Must have at a minimum HS diploma or GED

Willing to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation

Willing and able to operate boom lifts, scissor lifts and forklifts

To attend to emergencies, successful candidates must reside within 90 minutes of the site, or be willing to relocate to within 90 minutes of the site without relocation assistance

Willing to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends

Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies including one mandatory on-call assignment a month

Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States
