Position Summary:

Plan, organize, lead, and control to drive results that meet or exceed sanitation, safety, food safety, and organizational initiatives. Supervise and direct the sanitation activities to ensure facility and production equipment are ready for use on each production day. Drive lean tools and continuous improvement activities. Find wasteful activities and/or processes and identify or eliminate them. Handle multiple tasks/projects while maintaining optimal job performance.

Responsibilities:

The job accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for the acceptable level of Sanitation for the San Lorenzo Facility building and equipment, including outside grounds.

Supervises, trains, and leads sanitation teams.

Effectively schedules and maintains effective personnel levels.

Maintains master sanitation schedule.

Performs problem solving techniques and direct corrective actions.

Maintains and implements Good Manufacturing Practices, ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, EPA, and HACCP regulations.

Directly supervises the Sanitation employees who are responsible for the daily cleaning all production equipment, areas, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other areas

Coach subordinates for optimal performance and provide the training, leadership, techniques, and tools to accomplish daily cleaning tasks and other job assignments.

Must interact with Managers, Supervisors, QA., Maintenance and Refrigeration personnel to assure acceptable standards are achieved and maintained.

Encourages and fosters an environment that promotes the retention of high performance employees.

Responsible for daily pre-operational inspection and USDA pre-ops

Responsible to ensure all necessary documents are reviewed and signed off.

Responsible for making sure cleaning procedures are current and updated.

Participates in sanitation conference calls

Conducts monthly sanitation audit and training with Ecolab representative.

Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF system. Report any issues to appropriate facility management.

Responsible for ensuring that the areas are safe and that safe working behaviors/practices are being exercised

Conducts huddle meetings, safety meetings, and sanitation training meetings

Maintains accurate chemical and PPE/supplies inventory

Reviews department timecards and authorizes overtime.

Responsible for training new employees in proper procedures and tasks.

Make recommendations on hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, training, disciplinary action and other appropriate changes of status in accordance with established policy and Union contract.

Proficiently uses Lean manufacturing tools within department to drive continuous improvement through 5S, Problem Solving and other Lean Initiatives.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Knowledge

College degree and 2 to 4 years experience in a meat processing facility or equivalent education/experience may be considered.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Working knowledge of USDA regulations and sanitation principles.

Good problem solving skills

SAP Experience preffered

PC Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Outlook,

Must work well with other individuals in a team environment.

Excellent communication skills. Able to foster great relationships, trust, and credibility at all levels within the organization.

Ability to speak other languages (Cantonese/ Mandarin / Spanish) a plus.

Ability to work varying shifts including 3rd shift, weekends, and holidays as needed.
