The Schools of Life and Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, and Pharmacy operate across the Joseph Bank Laboratories (JBL) and Minster House which house research and training facilities for the Schools and are complemented by teaching laboratories in the purpose-built Janet Lane-Claypon Building. The JBL Schools Technical Team provide laboratory teaching and research support across these buildings for the students and staff within the University. The Technician posts are key to establishing a dynamic and modern science environment for the academic Schools.

Currently we are seeking an individual in the area of animal behaviour with experience of working with dogs in a welfare-friendly context. You will support the University’s activities in animal behaviour and welfare in both teaching and research environments by managing a database of pets and their owners, caring for these pets (mainly dogs) whilst they are on-site participating in behaviour and welfare related projects. Where applicable, training in specific techniques and processes will form part of your personal development plan.

As an applicant for this post, you will:

be dynamic and adaptable with a 'can do' approach

have a scientific background with experience in behavioural sciences

have excellent organisational skills and experience of working with spread sheets, databases and websites

demonstrate practical experience of having worked with dogs utilising welfare-friendly techniques

have a professional customer focused manner

demonstrate a dedication to working within multidisciplinary teams, and an enthusiasm for success

have an enthusiastic and flexible approach to work, working across school buildings as appropriate

The University of Lincoln is a visionary, ambitious institution and you will be working in the heart of a thriving, historic, safe, and friendly city. The Schools provide a stimulating environment for academic teaching and research, and are based in high quality facilities.

If you would like to know more about this opportunity, please contact Dr Ciara Casey, Technical Manager, by email at ccasey@lincoln.ac.uk.

The closing date above is given as a guide. We reserve the right to close the post early once we have received a sufficient number of applications, so we advise you to submit your application early to prevent disappointment.

Interviews for this role will be held ‘in person’ on the Brayford campus on the publicised interview date.
