Security Guard Jobs description
A blue collar security guard checks buildings in assigned area for security and checks doors, windows, lights, and equipment, records any damage for repairs and for criminal incidents, monitors fire extinguishers, other safety devices and signs for proper functioning and reports irregularities or problems. It is the responsibility of a blue collar security guard to keep unauthorized personnel out of buildings after closing hours, control access to areas based on assignments, maintain regular contact with other guards and call public safety officers in case of need, establish security patrol priorities, assist in development of security policy and procedures, communicate with service users about security needs and problems and maintains and recommend changes or improvements in the software recordkeeping system for security guard activities. A blue collar security guard should possess the knowledge of first aid and operation of portable radio device.This position requires two years experience in security and safety or one year of post-high school education related to security and safety.
