Electrician Jobs description
An electrician installs, tests, connects, and maintains electrical wiring and other systems for climate control, communications, security, or other reasons. Duties include installing and maintaining electronic controls for machines used in manufacturing units or offices. Most electrician jobs are found with specialization in either construction or maintenance. An electrician job is both electrical and mechanical, and involves dismantling, fault detection, and repairing of machine parts. Since it is not always possible to replace a defective component instantly, an electrician has to make temporary repairs so as the machinery could function while the correct parts are being obtained.Most localities require electricians to be licensed. Electricians usually must pass an examination that tests their knowledge of electrical theory, the National Electrical Code, and local electric and building codes. An electrician job may also require completion of a 4-5 year apprenticeship program. Those who do not enter a formal apprenticeship program begin to learn the trade informally by working as helpers for experienced electricians. A high school course in mathematics, electricity, electronics, mechanical drawing, or science is advantageous.
