Construction Jobs

Blue collar construction jobs include construction laborers, masons, and other workers. Such construction workers perform tasks involving physical labor at building, highway, heavy construction projects, tunnel, shaft excavations, and demolition sites. A construction laborer may operate hand and power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
Duties include moping, brushing, or spreading paints, cleaning solutions, or other compounds over surfaces to clean them or to provide protection; operating jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement; placing, consolidating, and protecting case-in-place concrete or masonry structures; positioning, joining, aligning, and sealing structural components, such as concrete wall sections and pipes; shoveling cement and other materials into portable cement mixers; and mix, pour, and spread concrete.
A blue collar construction worker is required to be skilled at a specific construction job. Educational qualifications are usually not required.
