Plumber Jobs
A blue collar plumber is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing material used for water distribution and waste water disposal. The functions of a blue collar plumber consist of repairing, piping of various size and type , checking safety equipment and replacing components such as washers, gaskets, and filters, inspecting, troubleshooting and testing plumbing systems, repairing or replacing pumps, valves and boiler systems, servicing and maintaining air compressors, maintaining and adjusting chemical treatment controls, keeping low pressure hot water heating boiler log and inspecting and testing fire sprinkler system and booster pumps. A blue collar plumber has to prepare documentation for compliance, maintaining appropriate service and repair records and monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence to Plumbing Code Requirements and report back to the supervisor.
This position requires a high school diploma along with experience of a trade school apprenticeship program that includes theory and on-the-job work and thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing trade and safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.
