The functions that a blue collar manager performs consist of managing the administrative services which include managing the receptionist function; planning meetings and conferences; managing transportation and travel; managing mail processing; coordinating office parties; and administering business continuity programs such as business insurance, liability insurance and disaster preparedness and recovery as well as managing the facilities, equipment and supply which include office space costing and leasing; office moves and relocation; signage; interior design and décor; furniture; fire safety; security; overseeing cleaning, maintenance, and repair; arranging for office equipment and supplies and arranging for commercial printing.
A blue collar manager is also responsible for management of desktop software i.e. word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentations. He/she has to negotiate and write contracts; and perform sales, procurement, budgeting and strategic planning as well as administer performance plans and appraisal programs. A blue collar manager also establishes office etiquette and business ethics guidelines and is responsible for problem solving, decision making and managing projects.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree preferably in business administration and very good communication skills with experience in this domain.
