Delivery Driver Jobs description
A delivery driver is responsible for making product deliveries to customer locations. A delivery driver oversees loading of inventory on truck and unloading at customer site. Duties include performing routine inspection of vehicle to ensure road safety;planning route to and from customers' businesses and adjust for traffic and/or construction; contacting a customer if not present; scanning bar codes on boxes delivered; entering returns, overage/shortages, and damaged products into scanner; after delivery is made, obtaining customer signatures; preparing and maintaining records in accordance with company policies and procedures; and providing assistance in resolving customer issues.
A delivery driver must have a valid driver's license, while a CDL may be required for some positions. Most jobs require a delivery driver to be twenty one years of age. A high school diploma or GED may be required. Experience in the area of responsibility is an advantage. Proper licensing relative to equipment, and forklift certification is a plus for such jobs.
